HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I – Ala Moana Center is kicking off the holiday shopping season with an exciting day of in-store sales, great giveaways, entertainment and events, and more. On Friday, Nov. 28 – known as Black Friday but affectionately known at Ala Moana Center as Thanks-GETTING Day – the mall will stay open from 6 a.m.-9 p.m., giving shoppers a full day to experience the center’s annual day after Thanksgiving festivities. Traditionally, Thanksgiving Day means giving thanks, but at Ala Moana Center on Thanks-GETTING Day, it’s okay to both give and get gifts for your family, friends and yourself. Sale-seeking shoppers will want to pick up a Thanks-GETTING Day Cheat Sheat, a handy brochure outlining all of the early morning door buster specials, all-day-in-store sales, promotions, and events happening mall-wide. Participating merchants include Express, Club Monaco, Wolford Boutique, Design Within Reach, Le Grand Marqet, The Disney Store, Thinker Toys, and more than 75 other retailers. In addition, 1,000 lucky shoppers will be instant winners of a free tall coffee from Nordstrom’s eBar if a “You Win” sticker is present on the Cheat Sheet. The sheets will be available throughout the mall at the Customer Service Center, mall-level information kiosks, or from one of Ala Moana Center's helpful roaming concierges. “Gift of the Year” Giveaway
Need yet another incentive to visit the center? How about the chance to become the envy of all Honolulu by rolling up into a personal reserved VIP parking stall at Ala Moana Center? Ala Moana Center is offering a fabulous opportunity to win the “Gift of the Year” – a reserved parking stall for one entire year, beginning Jan. 1, 2009, as well as a coveted Ala Moana Center $500 gift card that can be used at most of the center’s stores and restaurants. Entry forms will be available in the Thanks-GETTING Day Cheat Sheet, in Ala Moana Center’s weekly Holiday Hit List (available beginning in December), and at the Marriott Information Kiosks located on Mall Level Two and Level Three of the center’s new retail concourse, featuring Nordstrom and 30 new retailers. Free Valet Parking Coupons Online
Smart shoppers can beat the parking blues on Thanks-GETTING Day by printing out a free valet parking coupon prior to their mall arrival. Coupons are available online at www.AlaMoanaCenter.com. There will be three convenient valet locations located at Ala Moana Center on Mall Level Two: Mauka side by Gap; Makai side by Sears; and Makai side between LeSportsac and Macy’s. Shoppers must present the coupon in person, and it is good for one use only with a limit of one coupon per vehicle per visit. The offer is based on availability, does not include gratuity, and is good on Nov. 28 only.
Free Live Entertainment and Holiday Gift Idea Seminars
For those wanting a break from the hustle and bustle of bargain hunting, live entertainment will be featured throughout the day at Ala Moana Center's Centerstage. Local performers from the Honolulu Dance Studio will take to the stage from 10-10:45 a.m., and Hypersquad will perform from 2-2:30 p.m. Shoppers seeking holiday gift ideas should also stop by Centerstage. At Noon, J. Crew-On-The-Island, MAX&Co., Blue Hawaii Lifestyle, and Kahala will showcase their must-have items, and at 4 p.m., Nordstrom will highlight its holiday gift ideas.

For the shopper who’s on-the-go and in need of some holiday assistance, cheerful Holiday Concierges will be roaming throughout Ala Moana Center to assist with shopping-related needs, from providing a Thanks-GETTING Day Cheat Sheet, mall map, information about a store, or directions to the nearest restroom or ATM.
