Ala Moana Center Welcomes Ten New Tenants

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I – On the heels of its recent multi-million dollar retail expansion, Ala Moana Center announces the addition of ten new retail and dining tenants, several of which are opening their first Hawai‘i stores.  The new retailers will offer shoppers an even larger selection of trendy apparel, accessories, children’s toys, and dining options.

“We are thrilled to continue offering Hawai‘i shoppers popular eateries and the leading names in apparel and accessories,” said Sharon James, regional vice president of marketing for General Growth Properties, Inc.  “By welcoming a number of retailers that are new to the state, Ala Moana Center remains at the forefront of shopping and dining trends.”

Recently Opened
Island Vintage Coffee– Located Street Level, Makai Market Food Court

Island Vintage Coffee offers caffeine-seeking shoppers a quick java jolt of hot, cold or blended Kona coffee beverages.  The new kiosk at Ala Moana Center's Food Court also sells a wide selection of packaged 100 percent Kona coffee, perfect to brew at home or to send to family and friends on the mainland.  Island Vintage Coffee opened in April 2008.

SWIRL candy apple co.– Located Street Level, Makai Market Food Court
At its new Ala Moana Center location, SWIRL transports shoppers on an adventure of delicious made-to-order hand-made treats, including frozen apples, bananas and cheesecakes with a choice of toppings.  SWIRL candy apple co. opened in April 2008.

Swatch– Located Street Level
Ala Moana Center shoppers can peruse Swatch’s collection of premium wristwatches.  Well-known throughout the world, Swatch features watches for men, women and children as well as straps, batteries and a collection of jewelry.  Swatch opened in May 2008.

True Religion Brand Jeans– Located Mall Level, next to Max & CO.
The trendy denim retailer’s 1,146 square-foot Ala Moana store is its first in Hawai‘i, offering a full range of products including footwear, swimwear and handbags for men, women and children.  Known for intense attention to detail, from fashion-forward seams to remarkable embroidery and innovative washes, True Religion is a distinguished brand in the high-end denim market.  The store opened on May 31, 2008.

Tanaka of Tokyo West Japanese Seafood and Steak House– Located Level Four, Ho‘okipa Terrace, next to Ruby Tuesday
Master teppan-yaki chefs skillfully prepare cooked-to-order meals on a tabletop grill while diners feast with their eyes.  Meals feature an array of fresh garden vegetables, certified Black Angus sirloin, imported lobster tails, shrimp and scallops, and much more.  Tanaka of Tokyo opened on

ALDO Accessories– Located Street Level, next to Crazy Shirts
ALDO Accessories bring shoppers an extensive selection of high-quality leather goods and accessories, including handbags, jewelry, belts, hats and sunglasses.  The brand focuses on fine craftsmanship and offers the latest trends at reasonable prices.  ALDO Accessories opened on
June 9, 2008.

Thinker Tots– Located Street Level, between Cathedral Gifts and Nails L’Mour
A new concept by Thinker Toys—a store popular for its educational toys, including arts, crafts, games, puzzles, and collectibles—will offer a variety of toys that stir the imagination and creativity of newborn to five-year-old keiki.  Thinker Tots is scheduled to open in July 2008.

Forever 21– Located Level Three, next to Levi’s
Renowned for its trend-setting clothing and accessories that are affordable and accessible, Forever 21 caters to a wide demographic of women and will offer shoppers a variety of fashion-forward garments, shoes, jewelry, lingerie, and loungewear in its new location at Ala Moana Center.  Forever 21 is scheduled to open in July 2008.

Jeans Warehouse– Located Street Level, between McDonald’s and Jeans Warehouse II
With a strong following from Hawai‘i teens and young women, Jeans Warehouse welcomes a new flagship store at Ala Moana Center.  The store will offer shoppers a wide variety of apparel, including tops, bottoms, dresses, and accessories, as well as plus-sized clothing.  Jeans Warehouse is scheduled to open in July 2008.

Stuart Weitzman– Located Mall Level, near Macy’s
Stuart Weitzman, the world-famous international designer of high-end shoes, will open its first Hawai‘i location, bringing shoppers chic footwear options.  Weitzman’s shoes are well-known for unique materials, such as cork, vinyl, Lucite, wallpaper, and 24-karat gold, and have garnered his company a global following in 45 countries.  Stuart Weitzman is scheduled to open in July 2008.

Ala Moana Center recently completed its 300,000 square-foot retail expansion, featuring 30 new shops connecting Hawai‘i’s first full-line Nordstrom department store to the existing mall via a two-level retail concourse.  Ala Moana Center currently features more than 290 stores, including 70 dining options, one of the largest collections of luxury retailers in the world, four major department stores and several only-in-Hawai‘i retailers featuring locally-made products and souvenirs.
