Ala Moana Center Offers Visitors an Island-Style Fourth of July with Beachfront Fireworks, Local Entertainment and Shopping

HONOLULU, HAWAI‘I – For the 17th consecutive year, Ala Moana Center, Hawai‘i’s premier destination for shopping, dining and entertainment, is proud to present Hawai‘i’s largest fireworks spectacular, taking place at Ala Moana Beach Park on Independence Day.  The festivities at Ala Moana Center will begin with a bang on July 4, and continue throughout the weekend with entertainment by Hawai‘i’s top musicians, shopping and savings for the entire family.  Centrally located in Honolulu, Ala Moana Center is just a short ride away from Waikiki by Waikiki Trolley, The Bus or cab.

Ala Moana Center’s fireworks show is truly spectacular, with more than 1,800 shells firing during the 20-minute display.  The only fireworks show in Hawai‘i to launch from three separate platforms, it is the state’s largest fireworks production and among the top 25 largest in the country. 

The fireworks show will begin on Friday, July 4 at 8:30 p.m., and free open seating on Ala Moana Center's Makai-Ewa Parking Deck will be available on a first come, first served basis.  Guests will also be able to relax andenjoy concessions for purchase on the Makai-Ewa Parking Deck. 

Throughout the day, attendees are encouraged to come early to shop and take advantage of Ala Moana Center's 20% Savings Pass, choose from a variety of delicious dining options and enjoy free entertainment at Centerstage in the afternoon and on the parking deck in the evening. 

This year’s entertainment lineup, hosted by Hawai‘i Pacific Entertainment and Visionary-Related Entertainment, features a number of well-known, local artists, including several Na Hoku Hanohano and GRAMMY Award nominees and winners such as John Cruz, Bruce Shimabukuro, Willie K, and Raiatea Helm.

In addition to the fireworks spectacular and outstanding entertainment, Ala Moana Center is offering a 20% Savings Pass, valid July 3-6.  More than 60 stores, including Banana Republic, Design Within Reach, Diesel, Nine West, and Town & Country Surf will be accepting the pass, which gives customers 20 percent off the purchase of one regular-priced item.  The pass will be available at www.AlaMoanaCenter.com, Ala Moana Center's eVIP e-mail newsletter, Ala Moana Center's Customer Service Center, and at select Waikiki hotel concierge desks. 

Ala Moana Center makes it easy for visitors to incorporate its Fourth of July festivities into their vacation with the “Shop, Dine and Shuttle Package,” offered exclusively through Shop America Tours.  The $50 package includes the following:

  • Two complimentary roundtrip fares on the Waikiki Trolley Pink Line shopping shuttle between Waikiki and Ala Moana Center 
  • Complimentary Premier Passport program worth hundreds of dollars in shopping and dining savings at more than 60 stores throughout the center;
  • Macy’s special 11 percent discount shopping pass and personal shopper/fashion consultation, by appointment only;
  • Complimentary special edition Ala Moana Center shopping bag with Hawaiian retro artwork by Brigitte D’Annibale;
  • Complimentary edition of Ala Moana Center magazine and mall map;
  • $20 dining gift card valid for lunch or dinner at participating restaurants; and
  • Complimentary restaurant offers from Bubba Gump Shrimp Company, Romano’s Macaroni Grill, Kirin Chinese Restaurant and Longhi’s.

Ala Moana Center's packages are offered online at www.shopamericatours.com.  The packages are administered via electronic voucher, and package elements are redeemed by customers at the mall’s Customer Service Center located Street Level near Centerstage.

Ala Moana Center recently completed its 300,000 square-foot retail expansion, featuring 30 new shops connecting Hawai‘i’s first full-line Nordstrom department store to the existing mall via a two-level retail concourse.  Ala Moana Center currently features more than 290 stores, including 70 dining options, one of the largest collections of luxury retailers in the world, four major department stores and several only-in-Hawai‘i retailers featuring locally-made products and souvenirs.
