Fashion Week Brings Rare Shopping Experiences
to Ala Moana Center

Ala Moana Center’s “World Festival – Hawaii’s Fashion Week” from October 30-November 5 showcases exclusive merchandise, world-class make-up artists, Parisian craftsmen and more.

HONOLULU, HI – Ala Moana Center will once again host its signature fall fashion event, World Festival - Hawaii’s Fashion Week, from October 30th – November 5th.  As a premier shopping destination, Ala Moana Center and its luxury retailers will unveil limited edition designer handbags and accessories sold exclusively in Hawaii.  This year, a variety of in-store events, exhibitions, fashion shows and special guest appearances by Steve Kemble of US Weekly’s “Fashion Police” and Yunjin Kim of ABC’s hit series LOST are sprinkled throughout the week creating rare and exciting shopping experiences for visitors and island residents.  Highlights include demonstrations by visiting Parisian craftsmen at Hermes and Louis Vuitton; a runway fashion show at Dior; and world renowned make-up artists at MAC, Dior, and Sephora.

Exclusive and Limited Edition Luxury Merchandise
Dior has always led the way with having multiple exclusive products available only at Ala Moana Center. Two hundred fifty limited edition logo jacquard medium hobo bags ($595) with pink patent leather trim and enamel ID plate named “Diorissimo,” will be available this year. 

Dior is launching a new “Dior Hawaii” jewelry collection and an exclusive line of small leather goods including a phone/camera strap, a shoulder strap pouch and a heart shaped key chain – all are worldwide exclusives only available at Ala Moana Center.  For fashionable youngsters, exclusive “Baby Dior Hawaii” t-shirts ($85-$110) include a pink metallic shirt with a beaded hibiscus print for girls, and a blue tiki embroidered print for boys.  Offered in children’s sizes from 2-12. 

From Salvatore Ferragamo exclusively for World Festival, is an updated mini Kelly bag ($900) in cipria pink Saffiano pebble calf with magnolia white Saffiano trim.  A limited number of handbags were created for Ala Moana Center and will only be available in Hawaii.

Neiman Marcus has partnered with designers Pucci and Lizzie Scheck.  Pucci will offer an 18-inch "Farfalle" print neckerchief ($50) in three color variations - fuchsia, violet or sky. Lizzie Scheck has created an exclusive necklace featuring a mini flower pendant in white gold necklace with pave diamonds ($295).

Also at Neiman Marcus, a Frederic Fekkai Designer Stylist event featuring Kasai from the Beverly Hills salon, taking place from 12 noon – 7pm on Friday, November 3, and from 10am – 5pm on Saturday, November 4.  Kasai started his career in Tokyo, and then made a name for himself in New York City handling top celebrities and other clients throughout the world.

Bally’s headquarters at Switzerland’s Lake Lugano, near Milan, has designed an exclusive World Festival handbag ($495). The Bally bag includes an exclusive wooden tag that reads "Bally" on one side and "World Festival 2006" on the other. Only 50 handbags were created.
 
Golf fans will appreciate Bobby Jones’ exclusive World Festival special edition “13 Players” drivers ($450), to commemorate the 13 major golf championships won by Bobby Jones.  Each 10.5 degree driver has a charcoal finish head and a super-premium, ultra-light weight 40-gram shaft. Every driver is personally signed and numbered by Bobby Jones’ master designer, Jesse Ortiz, whose golf club design over the past 40 years has earned him an unparalleled reputation among touring professionals. Also created for the World Festival are limited quantities of the

Bobby Jones navy Hampton club bags ($195) and cotton golf caps ($39.50), embroidered with the Player logo and the World Festival logo.  Cotton canvas Hamptons weekender bags ($160) and cotton canvas Hamptons shoe bags ($60) also will be available.  All products will be available exclusively at the Bobby Jones store located at Ala Moana Center.   

Fendi will offer a limited edition handbag appropriately named the "FF Fendi Festival" bag ($395). A chic “day to evening” shoulder bag, the traditional brown FF zucchino material has been re-imagined in a bright red and detailed with red velvet trim. A red patent leather shoulder strap gives a fashionable feel to the bag and each will bear the World Festival label.

Coach’s limited edition Legacy Satchel ($698) in Geranium leather and antique brass hardware has been designed by President and Chief Creative Director Reed Krakoff, exclusively for World Festival.  One hundred limited edition handbags have been created   Coach celebrates their 65- year anniversary this year as one of the country’s most iconic brands.

Burberry, a distinctive brand with international recognition, will feature its 150th Anniversary Watch ($695).  Made in Switzerland, the watch has a black calf-skin leather strap, stainless steel case, and a silver colored dial with etched check. 

Cartier is declaring their love for an important cause with the creation of an 18k rose gold mini LOVE bracelet on an orange silk cord ($475). This special edition charity bracelet will support Kapiolani Children's Miracle Network (KCMN). For each bracelet sold, Cartier will donate $100 to KCMN, where all funding stays in Hawaii to benefit and help Hawaii’s children.

Newly opened in Ala Moana Center, Jimmy Choo will be offering the Rock handbag ($1450), made of cream pearlized soft goat leather with a woven metallic nappa leather strap in bronze, gold, and mandarin with a World Festival 2006 plaque inside. A limited edition of just 25 handbags will be available.

Theory, recently opened and the only Theory store in Hawaii, will be participating in its first World Festival by designing a special limited edition Bianca Bag ($125).  There will be just 50 small, elba leather evening bags with a detachable chain strap created. 

Special Exhibitions, Demonstrations and In-Store Events
Bonjour!  The French are coming to Hermès and Louis Vuitton at Ala Moana Center.  Hermès will be hosting a very special scarf printing demonstration for the first time in Hawaii.  Taking place at the Ala Moana Center store only, from October 30 – November 5, one of their top craftsmen from the Hermès Ateliers in Paris will be on location for scarf printing demonstrations at 2pm, 4pm and 7pm daily; the exception being Friday, November 4th when only the 2pm demo will be available.  Hermès has their own silk farms, creates their own silk, and handcrafts their scarves.  A limited edition World Festival scarf ($320) will be created and only sold in Hawaii. 

Everyone loves Louis, and now customers will be able to create their very own made-to-order Louis Vuitton piece at Ala Moana Center.  Vuitton will host a “special order” exhibition daily from October 30 – November 5.  Present at the store will be a Master Craftsman from the Louis Vuitton workshop, and a sketch artist who will assist clients interested in creating their own made-to-order design.  Louis Vuitton has created special orders for their clients since 1854, constantly striving to create unique and one of a kind pieces that express the craftsmanship and savoir faire of the brand.  The exhibition also will feature some unique pieces from the Museum of Heritage in Asnières, France.

New to Ala Moana Center and joining World Festival – Hawaii’s Fashion Week for the first time is the dazzling jewelry of Harry Winston.  The Harry Winston store will feature an exhibition of jewelry and rare timepieces for three full days, beginning November 3 through November 5th.  The exhibit is being flown to Hawaii with pieces not normally featured in their store, and will only be shown during these three days.

Now, it’s time to “Boogie!”  Celine will be hosting a “Boogie Exhibition” as a tribute to the House of Celine’s best-selling handbag worldwide – “Boogie.”  Taken from the popular style of  “boogie woogie” music following WWII, it embodies an era of euphoria, dynamic energy and vitality - qualities that represent the Celine brand.  Ten Boogie bags will be available for sale during World Festival.  Pricing to be announced. 

World-renowned Make-Up Artists
Known for its celebrity spokespeople and seen everywhere on the faces of Hollywood’s elite, MAC Cosmetics will launch their much-anticipated Holiday Collection to coincide with Hawaii’s Fashion Week, and feature an exclusive product – the MAC Silverette ($90). Combining style and absolute utility, this sophisticated metallic silver overnight makeup case is stylishly detailed with black faux patent straps and handle. Only 100 cases will be available. 

Making their first-ever appearance in Hawaii, will be three of MAC’s renowned global artists: Gregory Arlt, Louise Zizzo and Victor Cembellin.  Special makeup demonstrations with the global team will take place at Ala Moana Center’s Centerstage on November 1st at 6:30pm, on November 2nd at 3:30pm, and in-store from 1pm-7pm by appointment only, on November 3rd and 4th.  Call 808-955-0356 for an in-store appointment.

Dior “Show Artist” Thuy Pham will be in Hawaii conducting a "backstage" makeover event at the Dior boutique on Thursday and Friday, November 2nd and 3rd from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. 
Pham was trained by Pati Dubroff, one of Hollywood’s most sought-after celebrity make-up artists.  Make-overs are by appointment only; call 808-943-6900 for more information.

Bare Escentuals founder, Leslie Blodgett, and her team of make-up artists will make a return Hawaii appearance at Sephora on November 2nd from 5:30pm-6:30pm, and on November 3rd from 11am-6pm.  Blodgett’s most popular cosmetics line, i.d. bareMinerals is one of the most natural and effective make-up collections around, and is recommended by the Skin Cancer Foundation. DKNY is hosting a special in-store fashion soiree at Ala Moana Center to benefit the Diamond Head Theatre on Wednesday, November 1st from 6pm – 8 pm.  Celebrity guest Yunjin Kim, who plays “Sun Kwon” on ABC’s hit series LOST, will be in attendance to host the event.  Guests will enjoy 15% off select purchases and receive a key to a lockbox which holds one of many prizes, including a spa or golf getaway package, a signature DKNY handbag, a $100 DKNY giftcard, and complimentary copies of InStyle magazine’s “Secrets of Style.”  Space is limited, those interested in attending must RSVP in advance by calling 1-888-266-1686.

Fashion Shows, More Celebrities and Special Guests
Now how could one possibly see all these World Festival exclusives and special guests all in one place?  Well, mark you calendar for the World Festival “Fashion Showcase” taking place at Ala Moana Center’s Centerstage on Thursday, November 2nd at 2:30pm.  This will be the best, and only, opportunity to see all the World Festival exclusive merchandise at once, being paired with fashion from participating luxury retailers.  A special appearance by one of Japan’s top models, Shiho, will delight visitors; and those who read “US Weekly’s” fashion police page and know Steve Kemble from “Whose Wedding Is It Anyway?” will be thrilled with this lifestyle guru’s special visit.  Leslie Blodgett from Bare Escentuals and Gregory Arlt from MAC are also expected to make appearances at the show.

On Friday, November 3rd at 4pm, Lacoste will host a fashion show at Centerstage in partnership with Vogue magazine.  Fronting the Dior store on Saturday, November 4th at 4pm, Dior will be unveiling a full runway presentation of their Cruise/Spring 2007 Collection.  Japan’s top model, Shiho, will be a celebrity model in the runway show.
