Ala Moana Center Expansion Update (1-30)
Phase II of Ke’eaumoku Ramp Access Rerouted Temporarily
Phase II Effective Dates of Rerouting: February 6 – February 22, 2006

HONOLULU – In preparation for the Ala Moana Center expansion project officially breaking ground in February 2006, continued work on the Ke’eaumoku Ramp from Kapiolani Boulevard into the shopping center’s mall level parking structure will be temporarily rerouted from February 6 - 22, 2006 during their Phase II implementation.

Currently, the Phase I rerouting of the Ke’eaumoku ramp now allows vehicular traffic from Kapiolani Boulevard into the mall level parking structure, though the exit lanes are closed off with no exit down the ramp to Kapiolani Boulevard. 

During Phase II (February 6 – 22) vehicular traffic will still be accessible up the ramp into the mall’s parking structure.  Two accessible lanes will merge into one, veering toward the far left lane of the ramp.  Once into the mall level parking area, vehicles will only be able to drive straight as construction barricades accommodate one-way traffic.  Vehicles will then be able to turn both Ewa and Diamond Head direction for parking access, closest to the storefront vehicular lanes (see map rendering).  The exit lanes will continue to remain closed during this phase.

Customers will be advised to exit at other access points on the Macy’s Diamond Head end toward Atkinson Street; Sears Ewa end toward Piikoi; or Sears Makai end toward Ala Moana Boulevard.

Ala Moana Center’s two-year expansion project will include Hawaii’s first full-line Nordstrom store (200,000 sq ft), plus an 800-stall parking garage, an additional 25,000 square feet of street-level retail space facing Kapiolani Boulevard, and 45,000 square feet of new retail space on the third level expansion connecting Nordstrom to the existing third level of the shopping center.
