Mall-Wide Lion Dance Crowns
Ala Moana Center’s Chinese New Year Events
HONOLULU – Ala Moana Center invites shoppers to celebrate the Year of the Dog with a colorful and rhythmic procession of traditional Lion Dances on Saturday, February 4, 2006.
Beginning at 12 noon, Centerstage will pulse with the exciting Kung Fu performances from six local Kung Fu associations. Immediately following, these six teams will make their way through the common areas culminating in a mall-wide Lion Dance. Shoppers will encounter dancers from Koko Head Martial Arts Academy, Chinese Physical Culture Association, Chinese Lion Dance Association, Kuo Min Tang, Gee Yung Chinese Physical Culture Association, and Lung Kong Physical Culture Association.
Shoppers will have the opportunity to enjoy a firecracker demonstration and welcome the 2006 Narcissus Queen, Kristi Shiao Wei Sue-Ako, and her court of Narcissus princesses. Ala Moana Center’s Chinese New Year Celebration will end at 2:45 p.m.
